Join Shane Hlushak in Northeastern Alberta, Canada for some of the the very best whitetailed deer hunting avialable anywhere. Here on the fringe where the farmland meets the northern boreal forest, is where the giant whitetails come from. The area that Shane hunts is one of the most prolific areas for producing trophy whitetails in North America. With ample food and large bush areas these deer have a chance to grow into magnificent trophies.

Backwood Encounters provides both bow hunts and rifle rut hunts for whitetailed deer. Accommodations are a rustic cabin in the middle of serious whitetail country. Fly into Edmonton, Alberta  and you will be picked up there and driven out to the hunting area. 

Bow hunting takes place during the pre-rut. Utilizing tree stand and ground blinds on natural funnels and rub/scrape lines, you will be in place on the buck movement lanes. 
During the rifle rut hunts, tree stands, tripod stand and
heated ground blinds are used in areas of natural deer movement for a crack at the big one!
